Great read, lots of good information!

I have been really interested in learning about yoga and really can't afford to take classes, this is such a great alternative. The book was informative and helpful and felt like I was being taught by a friend. It was an easy read and had tons of great information. The poses are illustrated, but I would have love to see some full color photos of the poses actually being executed. The book covers the basics, poses, combos, everything that i need as a beginner. I didn't feel overwhelmed learning from this book. The author is a certified instructor and has other great credentials that made me feel confident she knew what she was talking about. Good, solid, informative! *sample provided to review

Great book for beginners

This book is perfect for someone who is new to Yoga. The book has five sections. The first discusses basics and defines a lot of "yoga" words. The second section discusses the importance of practicing and having a clear space and mind for your yoga practice. The third section describes and shows illustrations of the proper poses, tells you the name of each pose, describes what benefits the pose offers, and even offers counter-poses if you are not ready for this pose yet. There are also helpful tips for each pose. Once you learn the poses the fourth section gives you lists of sequences to choose from. The fifth section discusses your diet and nutrition and how to be mindful when you eat and when making decisions of what to eat. Section six discusses the importance and types of meditation to practice. Lastly section seven discusses specialty cases like yoga over 60 and yoga while pregnant. There is also an appendix with just illustrations as a reminder and a glossary of terms in case you get confused or need to refresh your memory. A great book for someone thinking about starting a yoga regimen.

I personally LOVE doing yoga and I especially love doing it in the morning so that it sets the tone of the entire day to a relaxing and thankful feeling for being alive. Yoga is a self discipline which includes breath control, meditation, and the practicing of specific bodily postures. It improves flexibility, muscle strength, posture, spine, blood flow, bone health, immunity,and heart rate, among many other things. The reasons why I started doing yoga was to improve my muscle strength, blood flow, and posture. Being overweight with no explanation is really hard to handle, especially when you do everything under the sun and can't lose a single pound, but instead gain. Being anemic due to heavy menstrual cycles for years and little to no menstrual cycles for the last two years due to it, is a lot harder to handle than you think. It's a struggle to balance the blood flow after a menstrual cycle and take enough iron to regulate that, with the help of yoga, I have been able to regulate it more easily.

Yoga for beginners is a wonderful book with all sorts of pages filled with different facts and detailed information about Yoga, as well as 35 different poses to calm your mind and strengthen your body. It mentions the eight limbs of Yoga and what they are, the history of Yoga, the styles of Yoga, as well as what it can do for you in chapter one. In chapter two, it discusses what you need to do in order to get Yoga ready, for example, clearing space and gives you practice Yoga ideas. Chapter three is all about the essential Yoga poses whereas chapter four is all Yoga sequences and combinations of positions to put together for certain things. Then it talks about nutrition and meditation in chapters five and six. Finally, chapter seven is Yoga for you, going into advice, classes and teachers to look for.

Each page is filled with a ton of useful information for beginning Yoga users, and even intermediate, and experienced Yoga users. With lots of pictures showing the positions as well as going into detail as to how to do them the exact and correct way. The pictures are a lot of help, especially for someone who doesn't do a ton of Yoga and can't take classes in order to learn the neat tips and tricks. This teaches you all that important information, in a book, within the comfort of your own home. A basic book

This book is a good beginners volume, focusing on G code programming and operations. However, it is not really on a college level as to the information delivery and the presentation. Would be terrific for High School or a some short course. But for a college course, it seems to fall a little short.

A surprisingly good book for such a low price

There seem to be more and more quality books coming to the market as of late. I recently received a complimetary copy of this book and was pleasantly surprised by its' accuracy, layout, and compact format. Mr. Mattson deserves credit for including very accurate programs and realistic fixturing and manufacturing processes.
This book is the best value for the CNC student's money today.

If you are thinking of buying your first multi-family property and terms like GRM, NOI and cap rate scare the heck out of you, then this is a great book to buy. Ben does a fabulous job of breaking down the different ways to value a property, as well as making the due diligence phase less scary by telling you the information you absolutely must obtain so that you can feel confident in your purchasing and pricing decision. This book is targeted at beginners, and I think worth every penny of the $3.99.

Disappointed

I had high hopes for this book as we find ourselves designing UIs for screens of varied resolutions. It seems like Illustrator would be the perfect program to step up and become a prominent tool for this - so long pixels and Photoshop! It may still do that, but this book won't help. It doesn't offer much in the way of using Illustrator specifically for UI design beyond what any junior designer already knows nor is it a great general intro to Illustrator. It seems thin on substance - like maybe it commissioned by Adobe on a tight deadline. Also, the examples are painfully uninspiring. I was investigating using this a textbook for a class I was teaching, but students' money would be better spent on a month subscription to any quality software and coding training service.

Biography of a UI Designer

The book is very helpful with UI design about 1/3 of the way into the book. I often found myself bored by the commentary of the author. I really just wanted to know good practices versus mistakes they had made. Just let me know what works and doesn't work and why it doesn't work. Money wasted when the main discovery of the book is that your web graphics from illustrator are blurry because your settings aren't right and your pixels don't line up perfectly. A few blog tutorials would have sufficed for the amount of information is present.

This book is great for beginners who do not know illustrator and want to learn website design.

Good detailed instructions on the use of Illustrator. It covers the basics of the program use, not about the principles of UI.
The only thing, I had problem using assets because of the older software version I have on my computer. But I learned many new things I have not know before.

This is an epic adventure that will get your heart pounding in the first few pages. Cyr is a masterful story teller who creates an immense, majestic and wonderful world. He weaves a tale complete with mystical creatures, beutiful landscapes and incredible battles. His characters are heroic and complex. You will see them battle side by side with comrades as well as their own inner demons. The quest will take many twists and turns and follow multiple paths. The challenges will continue to mount for our party. Cyr places the reader right along side of them and makes us feel their anticipation, anxiety and courage. This book is full of surprises, twists, and turns. It is next to impossible to put down. The Fortress of Ardan will take you on an emotional, exciting and fun ride. Furthermore it is very intelligently written. It has multiple levels, a deep evolving and continully unraveling story. But most of all it is pure entertainment and adrenaline. Susan Henderson is a professor at Syracuse University, where she teaches architectural history in the School of Architecture and is on the faculty of the Renée Crown University Honors Program. She specializes in the fields of Islamic and early modern European architectural history. Data clean up is fun!

I can't say enough good things about this book! The authors, Ken Puls and Miguel Escobar, present Power Query in a way that is totally accessible to Excel users. There are clear explanations, good examples and files so the reader can perform the steps along with the book. I have gone through the book at least three times, and participated in a training workshop given by the authors, and I continue to learn new things each time.

In the book Ken and Miguel say, "There is no doubt in our minds that Power Query will change the way Excel pros work with data forever." I'm not sure I'm quite to the level as an Excel pro (I hope to be when I grow up!), but this book definitely HAS changed how I work with data. Power Query and the M language makes it fun to do data cleanup!

QuickBooks users problem solver

Probably the only decent book out there that is specifically geared to the power query model. I was looking for a solution to merge two QuickBooks reports I had dumped out to CSV files. This book solved my problem. Can't beat that. If you are a QB user and hate the Advance Report engine, dump that junk and dig into power query.

11/22/16: I have since used PQ extensively since acquiring this book. This is a great starter book, but I quickly flew past it into more complicated areas not covered by this edition. There is a whole lot of stuff Ken and Miguel can go into in a follow up book. They should look at publishing an edition that focuses on the Mashup Query Language solutions itself as a companion to the this book.

Best Reference Out There for Power Query and Its M Language!

Awesome reference - I have used it so much that it is ragged and frayed! And what's neat is that everything that you learn about Power Query (PQ) is translatable to Excel Power BI (where it found as Get Data). I like to describe PQ as the "Excel import wizard on steroids" and it is invaluable to those of us that use/combine/mash together data from disparate sources. This reference has the broadest and deepest compilation of PQ "stuff" out there. Couple that with a well keyed Google/Bing search and you can easily find a way to your data end point.
